What Happens In Vegas

This year we looked forward to the Fourth of July not just because it is a national holiday and a day off from work but also because it meant that we would be leaving for a quick getaway to Las Vegas with my sister and brother-in-law. We left on Friday and came back Sunday so it was quite a quick trip but we still managed to have a ton of fun!

I haven't traveled with my sister and brother-in-law in such a long time, if ever, and it was so much fun to have additional travel buddies. I am thrilled to share a recap of what we did, where we ate, and where we stayed for anyone who is or will be going Las Vegas soon. There is also a Vegas Travel Guide from my first trip in 2018 if you would like more to read!

Where we stayed...

We stayed at ParkMGM, which is where Lady Gaga was performing so it was super convenient. And it's only about 8 minutes from the airport by taxi (~$30). It's slightly further down the strip than I would recommend but it has a connecting shuttle that connects it to Crystals Shoppes and the Bellagio. Since the weather was HOT it was nice to limit the outside walking and just take the shuttle.

How was the weather...

HOT. In fact, it was the beginning of a heat wave when we arrived. The temperature was 118 degrees! We heard the day we left it reached 120 and was record-breaking heat that week. We were delayed on the tarmac for a little but it was more related to Hurricane Beryl than hot weather in Vegas.

What we did...

Our main event was to go see Lady Gaga's Jazz and Piano concert residency at Park MGM. She does about 8 shows or so in this residency and we got tickets to the final show. It was so much fun and we wore alllll the sequins. I'll do a post discussing my thoughts about the show. If you have been to see Lady Gage recently I would love to hear your thoughts!

We also explored a bunch of the casinos, including a few I hadn't seen from my first trip. Excalibur, Luxor, Mandalay Bay, and New York New York. All the ones toward the end of the strip.

We beelined it to the Bellagio after dinner because my sister wanted to see the famous fountains.

We also checked out the Conservatory -- I had been there during my first visit and wanted to see what their current floral arrangements were. They were stunning air balloons! And I love the Chihuly glass display they have in their lobby.

One of the reasons we went to Luxor was to visit a fascinating Titanic exhibit. I am not much of a history buff except when it comes to the Gilded Age and Titanic. I'll blog about the Titanic exhibit separately but I highly recommend if you are looking for an indoor activity while in Vegas.

Where we ate...

The first night we got in around dinner time so we had something quick from the Proper Eats food hall in Aria. It was the casino right next to us and we could get there without going outside. It has a bunch of restaurant options and you can order right from your table to pick up.
Where else could I order sushi AND curly fries?
For breakfast we ate at Primrose in ParkMGM. It was a loosely French-inspired restaurant with a unique vibe. We were seated at a cozy table that overlooked the outside.

For dinner on Saturday we had reservations at Mon Ami Gabi, a french bistro in the Paris casino. To help beat the heat we took the shuttle from ParkMGM to Bellagio and then walked across the street to get to Paris.

We split a bottle of wine and I ordered the french onion soup, steak frites, and creme brulee. The steak was cooked perfectly and everything was so tasty.

We were only there for a very short period of time but we packed a lot in and had a great time. Looking forward to our next adventure.
